Eeek! I am so sorry that happened!

Honestly I would be a wreck over it too. Something doesn't sound right to me.

He was playing too rough with her, she asked him to stop and didn't, and then she 'bit herself.' Personally I think he gave her the bruise and guilted her into saying she had done it herself so you will let their visits continue. Either that or yes, she is doing self destructive behavior from all the stress she is dealing with. No wonder you are worried.

I could see her being self destructive if she is being guilted the way she is. Definitely good she'll see her counselor soon, don't want that issue to sit too long.

Don't panic, but definitely have her talked to by a professional in my opinion. The poor thing! And you poor thing, you must be so worried!

HUUUUUUUUUUGS!

The biting could well have happened the way she said it did- it could be kind of like teenage girls "cutting" because they feel bad. (Injury releases endorphins, a brain chemical that makes us feel better. We have a client who bites his wrist for this same reason.) However, given his track record I'd sooner think he did it, even if by accident, and talked her into saying she did it. You've done about all you can do, by notifying the proper people, either way.
