I visit this web cite alot and you guys have been so helpful. Well I need your help once more. I have to write a thesis research paper on something that is very important to me. I chose to write abouy domestic violence.
I have 2 thesis statements so far and can't seem to chose.
1. Women who go back to their abusers will in all likelyhood be abused again.
2. Men who abuse women and children should go to prison.
and i have to use online sources only. and i can't preach domestic violence i'm really having a hard time with this.
If anyone has any ideas about any web sites or a differant twist for my thesis let me know. I'm really stressing on this.
By the way the boys and I are doing great our anniversery date is coming up on the 30th of September YEAH!!!! We did it. Even though somedays were really hard we pulled through and we are FREE!!!
Thanks and lots of hugs
Christy

• Try government sites: Surgeon general, census, state departments of health and social services. Many of these places have trends-type publications available online.
• Perhaps the sites for women's organizations like NOW might have something.
• Some scientific journals publish online.
Hope that helps. If I were you, I would stick with the first thesis. I would imagine that more data exists for that than the latter.
Good luck.

I think the first thesis statement will work better because there will be more information available to support the statement. Since this is a research paper, you will be expected to use statistics, expert opinion, and factual information more than personal stories; however, you can weave in some factual stories as well as interviews with abused women who have returned (I would check with your professor). I taught writing and research for years before moving into college administration, and I would be happy to review your research paper draft if you want feedback.
Looks for organizations, advocacy groups, government sites, etc. through a general search engine. Also, you will want to include citations from books, journal articles, etc. Do not rely to heavily on the web (most sites will report the same information, so be selective and use most academically or scholarly websites (.edu, .gov) over .com sites (do not use any commerical sites that are trying to market products like books, etc...or personal webpages).
