Finally, it is here.
Freedom has been achieved!
You wonder why
the thrill is palpable,
the relief so intense
when the trouncing was so severe.
You question the reason.
The rationalization is simple.
Really.
Indisputable, it is,
if you, but listen,
for only a moment.
You must understand that
money, personal property
don’t amount to much
when placed upon
the scale of life,
weighed against
the well-being of the little ones.
Exoneration for his crimes
will never be granted.
Not completely.
Clemency can only be given
to those who seek it,
acknowledge the wrongs perpetuated
until then,
forgiveness will lay locked
within the newly beating heart.
Time, they say,
time heals all wounds.
How true this is can’t be said.
Yet, you must believe,
that the day will come when
fear no longer rules supreme,
emotions will no longer be concealed
behind a screen of uncertainty.
It will come,
maybe not tomorrow,
or next week,
or even next year.
But it will come.
In time, you will open
your arms,
your heart,
soar upon the brilliant wings
of love, of confidence,
and most of all of independence.
