I understand this is a little off topic, but hey,..it gets your mind off your abuser for a bit right?

Ok, is everybody sitting down? The price of gas where I live is 1.12 Euro per liter. That is roughly 1.36 dollars per liter. There are approximately 3.78 liters per gallon. That makes the price per gallon approximately 5.14 dollars. The popular theory is that the cost is going up because of a substantial increase in demand caused by the booming Indian and Chinese economies. My next car will definitely be a hybrid.

Here in the middle of the Missouri Ozarks, it's ranging anywhere from 2.35 to 2.50 per gallon, depending on where you're buying it and diesel is 2.50.

Eeek - I thought we had it bad here at (approx. converted equivalent of) $3.56. It is the highest price in Canada, but nowhere near as bad as yours. As it is I really plan anything I need outside of going to work so I make as few trips as possible. At over $5 I'd barely be able to afford to go to work, and my work is close to home. My sympathies!

Hi, price of gas here in the Midwest is 2.78. A friend of mine who is a buyer for retail stores says store profits are plummeting because people don't want to waste gas going shopping, so perhaps it will reach a point where the retailers will start crying "Uncle"!

It isn't so bad surprisingly. I spend about 70 dollars per fillup but it lasts me about 2 weeks or more. My work is only minutes away. All basic needs such as groceries (1 minute away), pharmacy (1 minute), doctor (next door), bakery (1 minute), mall (5 minutes) are very close. If I have to go far, I hop on the public transport. Some people are even more lucky to live near even better public transport connections. Still, I don't expect it to get better, and a hybrid would be excellent. So the problem isn't as critical here because of the public transport and the fact there is at least a small grocery store located on every street corner.

Glad to hear it doesn't greatly affect you. I live in the outskirts of the city, but there's no public transportation near my street or my work. I'm just glad I decided last year to move - I cut the distance to work by 1/3, which really helps.

I've already posted this elsewhere, but here goes:

Where I live, £4. That makes it around $7.80.

The goverment are keen for everyone to use public transport. The problem is, that there's very little of it. I need a car to get to work. I agree with the person who wants a hybrid. I'd already decided on one before the price shot up. Problem is, it'l be a few years before I can afford to buy a new car.

Where I live in TN, we have an MTA bus that will take you where you need to go, unfortunately, there is not a MTA busline where I work.
