Joel Osteen on TV this past Sunday said how we need to get rid of those old wineskins.

I've succeeded in my one goal by earning my college degree and it sure wasn't easy.

My goal is to raise my son to be a great man. I guess I have lofty dreams for him but I would like him to have the finest education and take some degree of interest in the sciences, both theoretical and applied, interest in literature, of course in the arts, to learn at least 3 languages (actually he already has two so not at all unreasonable), learn to play at least one musical instrument, play at least one sport (skiing, soccer, swimming maybe), and take a great interest in the world around him. It sounds like a lot but he is already headed in this direction. My goodness you should have seen the duck that he painted today and the towers and bridges he builds with legos. He even built an elevator into one of them, and it works. Smart as a whip. And of course it isn't all at once but throughout his growning up. I want him to be kind and gentle, but know what he wants and go for it. I want him to have so much confidence in himself. And I would hope oneday he is a great man who will change the world in a positive way. But no matter what he does, I always love him the same. And it is my very strict policy to NEVER pressure him to do something or like it. I just gently introduce these things once and he takes over from there. Those things that he doesn't have interest in, I don't bother with anymore unless he asks to do them.

My vision is to live in a home where I can be me and not worry about that someone thinks I am doing something "wrong" all the time. Where I can be respected and know that I am not perfect, but that I don't have to be. Where I can make everyday mistakes like a normal person and not be berated and made to feel stupid or lazy or insignificant. Where my opinions count and are actually valued. Where I don't have to think about every word I say and how it will be perceived and how it might be turned around against me. My vision is to be finally and forever FREE.
