I've heard that less than 1% of abusers ever change. But I've heard of abusers getting into a relationship with someone else and they don't act that way anymore. Like they just have to be with a certain type of person, and their personalities don't clash as much.
I'm wondering about this, because my ex was downright mean to me, but he seems to treat his new wife differently. I talk to his wife about twice a week or so, we are civil, and from what my kids tell me they get along great.
BTW,
For mother's day he bought her a necklace with #1 mom on it, from my kids and hers. She got breakfast in bed, she doesn't have to work anymore, she just sits home and takes care of their little family. It's like he puts her up on a pedestal or something.
