It's the first of the month, kids, and many little ones are either preparing to head back, have already started, or are going to school for the first time.

Smoothone2001 I would have to say that the thing I hated about going back to school was when I started junior high I had to get up so early. 6 am now that was SO early for me and you would think I was going to die (my poor parents LOL). Well now that is not early for me I get up at 5:30 on the week days so it don't bother me at all to get up early :-)

I guess answering my own roll call would be a good idea, but it's kind of been one of THOSE weeks...

I think the worst part about going back to school was school shopping.

I guess I was just worried about fitting in. I grew up with hand-me-downs and I always worried I would be picked on...which would happen anyway.

I liked school for most of the time I went, so it would definitely be the shopping. I've had phases--indifferent, slutty, preppy, hippy, etc. Not necessarily in that order, but they were fairly distinct and had to do with the people I wanted to hang out with at the time. My mother hates shopping (as do I now--the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree in some cases), and these changes in the fashion winds would raise, um, issues at back-to-school time. Of course now and for the past five years, I work in a field where if I wear something other than jeans, khakis or shorts, everyone asks me where my interview is and why I'd want to leave my job.

Hi--

I was always really nerdy and so I was the most nervous about fitting in and getting picked on at school. It wasn't cool to be a nerd until the internet became really popular, and that was years afterwards!!

I most liked the freedom of riding the subway to and from school with some girlfriends'. We felt like we were so grown up and then when we were older that was always our time to talk freely without parents or other family members around. I liked school alot but I guess the worst part was studying 2 hours minimum everynight because that was the rule in my home from about the 6st grade on.

Hi,

I actually liked getting back to school. because I would see my friends every day. The thing I hated the most was how the bus would sometimes smell like diesel.yuk :p

But for the most part, summer was a long enough break, and I was always excited to get back to school, and learn (I know I am a dork). :)

My name is Becky. The thing I hated most about going back to school was having a new class. I didn't like losing last year's friends to another class and having to start with a new teacher. I loved the rest of school. I was a bookworm and a teacher's pet. I was also horribly shy.
