Child support numbers look at documented income..w2s and all that..if it is under the table, he can claim he has no income. It does not matter if he lives in a house paid for by his mother or whatever. He needs to have documented income..pay stub..Ok..even if he were to have documented income, it could maybe translate to very minor amount - say couple hundred a month. I would say if you think he has documented income, go ahead..if not, nothing will happen. Yes, he may also start demanding time with them..that is another factor.
if you are supporting 2 kids half time and 2 kids full time, could you be eligible for any other welfare programs/food stamps..anything?

I don't qualify for any government assistance because I have equity in a home and work hard.

How about http://childcareaware.org/ See if you at least qualify for low cost child care..not sure how big your house is..but would there be space to rent it to a student or someone who could help with housekeeping instead of payments. Something like a month to month thing. It is really difficult to do what you do..on your own..wish you had some family support at least so you could get out on your own once in a while.

You'll find out if it's worth it when you go to court to get it.

Wouldn't the child support enforcement office make him get a legit job within a certain amount of time?

be prepared that if the court does step in..he will want some sort of visitation/custody....I truly think he needs to be told to get off his a$$ and start paying...but be prepared for the fallout..

Can you just stop by at the local court /CS office and ask around..since CS laws are grainy across states.. maybe that will help to see if worth filing or not..

Sweets, if we had that power, believe me, a LOT more people would be receiving child support than are. First Amendment rights being what they are, nope, it's a no can do. Just like we can't order welfare moms who keep popping out "check babies" every two years to get sterilized. We DO have the option of putting them in jail, and we do take a part of their monthly stipend from the state when we do. Which, when I worked CS, equaled roughly $2.00 per month. Big help, hunh?
