I did do better on Friday, her 1 yr anniversary of her death, than i thought i would. I was adamant about being at the cemetary at the time of her death. I was hoping if i was, i would get some sign from her or something ... i didnt though. But it was a nice day, i had Kibo (my dog) with me, & i spent a few minutes there. Her little Xmas tree was still there & i added the card Averey made for her. Then i went to the monument place & picked out her footstone. I did get one w/ Mary engraved on it, b/c Averey specifically asked if she could have one w/ her on it (she had seen a headstone w/ one).
& ***HERE*** is where i think i got my SIGN!
It is a 6 grave family plot. all w/ lite gray stone simple foot stones. When i went in the lady asked if i wanted to match the other stones in teh famlily plot. I told her i needed one w/ Mary engraved, but other than that, i wanted the same stone & same lettering. She asked when the last person was buried there & i said "1980's My moms Granny". She sort of looked forlorn & said "Oh boy, we changed hands 8 yrs ago & we have info on all the markers dating back to the 1800's, but many were lost or misplaced. I doubt we will have it, but lets look. What was the last name?"
So ... she goes over to this HUGE wall of drawers. You know those old library drawers you pull way out w/ all the cards in them. Maybe 1000 or more were in each drawer. My great- granny who died in the 1980's had the last name of Lamas. So i gave her the name. She pulled one drawer out & sort of slid her hand in to start to seperate & go thru the cards. She said right away, sort of suprised "Was her name Mary? Husband of Manuel Lamas? Died Feb 15, 1986?" I said "Yes" & she & the other woman working there were flabbergasted ... they said "That is SO weird. Out of all the drawers it coudl have been in & all the cards in this one drawer ... "
So, i am convinced my Mom was letting me know "I know you are there"
