tell me about no contact please

Hi - Well I haven't really spent time with him for two weeks which is a really good thing. He has not been pressing the issue of seeing our daughter which is also good. He has seen her, but very limited. He also has been keeping his distance, physically.

But at 2:30 am last night I called him. Turned into a fight which went into today also (just over the phone). I have been reading all the posts and it seems the no contact rule is something important. Can someone please explain this to me more fully? Yes, it seems like a logical thing to do but maybe if I hear more about it that will help me.

Thanks.

Hey there Sam, I have been following your posts and I know what it's like.

Basically, no contact is just what it says: you don't contact him, and you don't respond if he tries to contact you. Contact in any form gives the abuser a chance to try to butter you up, or that failing, to get you upset so that you doubt yourself. Avoiding contact means he can't work on you, and it helps you to heal.
