Just a small note that today, in Canada, is a day we act against violence against women. It was 16 years ago that 14 women were murdered by a gunman at Montreal college, women were his target not just murder. To mark this day we encourage 16 days of action aganst gender violence - whether it be domestic or any type of violence. I think we do a part here by supporting in any way we can women effected by domestic violence, each women that learns to besafe, eachwoman that finds freedom is a woman saved.
I cant help but think that society has made steps in the rihgt direction but it still has so far to go and as women we need to make sure we take our stand. We need to continue demanding respect - from men, from society, from ourselves and we need to contnue defining our own happiness not allowing society to tell us what makes us a woman, what makes us happy.
I really think this day deservesmore attnetion in this country, this needsmore attention in the world, but I thought we could mark it here also.

Thanks,
Lisa

For those not familiar, she's referring to the Marc Lepine case:

Here's a little more about today's remembrance, if anyone is in or near Montreal:

The more aware we are, the closer we come to STOPPING these cowards once and for all.
