I had been with my boyfriend for over 2 yrs. I'd known he had a couple aggressive incidents with a previous gf, but he'd never physically hurt me, though he was emotionally abusive. On Wed I told him I was going to my daughter's coffee shop to visit her and her boyfriend, then I would head to his place. Since he was had been ill and was tired, I told him to get some rest. Thinking he was napping, I stayed about 2 hrs then headed to his place. The first thing he did was question where I was and asked if I was seeing someone else. I was amazed. Her shop has a web cam, which he is aware of, so he could have easily seen where I was and what I was doing. I sat down and we continued to argue. Finally, he told me to leave, so I did. I walked out of his apt and he followed me and told me to stop. I said no, I was going home. He kept coming telling me to stop but I said no and kept walking. Next thing I know, he had his hands gripping my arms and dragging me back to his apt. The more I resisted, the tighter his grip became. I told him, many times, he was hurting me and to let me go. I tried to kick him but I couldn't make contact. Then he threw me over his shoulders and headed towards his apt. I don't remember much after that, but then a man walked into the complex so he let me go. This also makes me angry because the man did nothing. I called the police, they came, took my story and took pictures of my arms since he left marks. They said they were going to his place next to talk to him. I get a call the next day saying he didn't answer the door and if had a phone number for him. I told them he doesn't own a phone but I gave him his work number and his parent's number since I believe he will run to their house for the rest of the week to get away (even though if they call there, his parents will lie for him and say he's not there). It is now Friday and I've heard nothing from the police and I'm almost betting they've made no contact with him. Can he just get away with this? Since when is it ok to be physically violent against someone? What are my legal rights?
EDIT-Just spoke with the officer and she said she talked to him Thur night and he did go to his parent's house in a different town. She was able to finish her report and it should be finalized tonight. The odd thing is, he told her the reason he wasn't home when they arrived Wed night is because he went grocery shopping. Amazing.
