Thursday's Thoughts........

I am reading a book called 'I Capture the Castle' by Dodie Smith....great read so far.........on page 55 the author writes,

"that there is something revolting about the way girls' minds so often jump to marriage long before they jump to love  And of those minds are shut to what marriage really means."

This got me thinking about how I did daydream about marriage quite a bit when I was younger, but still was not prepared for what it really means.  How can we prepare our children for marriage?

I would love to hear your thoughts!  :)

Very interesting quote from that author.

I know before I met my hubby that I always hoped a knight in shining armour would come yadda etc and so on lol

All I actually wanted was a marriage completely different than my parents but along the lines of my grandparents. I actually think I fell in love with my husbands parents before I fell in love with him. It was after our second date he took me home to meet his parents and they were the type of married couple I aspired to be like.

Of course by the 3rd date I realized the guy I was dating was meant to be in my life for the rest of time and we were married 7 months later and almost 30 years have gone by. Our marriage is not exactly like his parents as we are different people. I think if my husband had met my parents before he fell for me, he might have run the other way and wondered why I was "normal" lol. Though I never thought I was very normal.

So, did my mind jump to marriage before love? Maybe in the sense I thought that my hubby being raised by these wonderful people would have similar traits when it came to marriage. He didn't disappoint, I do have to say that! But I married him because I loved him and realized he was my other half.

Thank you so much for sharing with us! I love that you had the example of the kind of marriage you wanted in your grandparents. Congrats on 30 years of marriage! :)
