Has the youth pastor responded to Keith's email? I am all for family church as we call it when there is no Sunday school, but I am in agreement with you about young children taking communion. Praying!

DS is 7. Next year he will be able to take communion. If you don't think they're ready, then the youth pastor should respect that. Do you know if any of the other parents share your concerns?

I'm not sure how your church works, but are the kids allowed to sit in church with you when there isn't "kids' church?" Our church doesn't have a separate service for children, so families always attend one service together.

Hey sweety. We believe that until a child reaches reaches the age of accountability and asks to be saved, they don't take communion. Although my boys were with us when took communion, they did not participate. They learned from watching it, what it was. When they became saved at the time when God called their hearts to him, then they began to participate. I'm like you & Keith. I think the email was the right step but what a shame that you wound up missing a service that is such a blessing because someone took it upon themselves to make such a change without asking how the parents in the church feel. I'm sorry. Let us know how this turns out. I'll be praying for yall.

HI! The pastor (youth) gave the commuion to everyone but he did say that you have to be save. Which my kids are but I don;t think they understand it . And there were kids there that were the same ages as mine goofing off with the bread and juice not knowing what it met and what it was for. Still mine aren't taking it . Until he teaches them what it means.

I wouldn't be comfortable giving my boys communion when they still don't understand. I think it was smart to email the pastor with your concerns. I don't think that kind of decision should be made without consulting the congregation, so it's good for the pastor to hear from someone.
