Attending Church
Sun, 01-04-2009 - 8:28am
Good Sunday Morning Everyone,
I am SweetBeauty, a frequent contributor to several boards on Ivillage.
I am christian, specifically baptist and have a strong belief in the Lord. My family and I attend the same church and my pastor is wonderful. He's smart, he has a good sense of humore and he knows how to break that words into understandable words and context.
For the longest, I've studied many religions because I love learning about others and how they practice. My problem is, I tend not to attend church like I should. There are two televion ministers that I love and watch very frequently. I also pray frequently, but I struggle stepping foot in the Lord's building like I should. It's been five months since I've attended church, but I did attend bible study a few weeks ago; which I use as a rationale.
I am feeling quite sad because God has done so much for me. But I struggle attending church.

Attending church has to be something of a habit. Not to make light of the importance but to be as much a part of your life as setting the alarm each night. It might seem a small thing but it is pretty important. Since you have already found a church you like I would say you are halfway there. Set a goal to attend every Sunday or Wednesday or something for a month. Hopefully at that time you will begin to find yourself involved enough that you will hate to miss. I became a Christian as an adult and did not grow you going every week. It took a few years, really, for my husband and I to become regular attenders. Now we rarely miss. I truly do find that my week is a bit off when I miss. I will pray you find a way to attend on a regular basis.

i need prayer about this too... since moving to a new city, i've let this slip. I know attending church will fill my spirit... but somehow, after the hussle of moving etc I haven't found one here i like... I don't mean to make excuses, it is what it is. I'm hoping to find a new good church home. Or that reminder in my heart to make this a priority in my new city. Thanks for the prayers.
