Confirmation from a Barfly!

My roommate and I are long time musical theater performers. We're expanding our song libraries and heading into a Kareoke competition this Sunday. ($250 prize! We could both really use it!)

Anyway, God comes from the strangest places sometimes!

I sang 1 song that went over really well. A fellow and his wife at the bar stopped me, asked if I sing in church, etc. I explained that I haven't for about 10 years (at least, that was my last solo) but that I'm looking for a home church. We laughed about how some of the best singers come from church choirs, and I rejoined my roommate and took my seat.

I sang 2nd song later in the evening and the fellow came over to me, literally with tears in his eyes (or maybe it was the booze talking - I was nursing water all night, just there to sing, not drink). He told me that God had put it on his heart to tell me that my voice is a gift from Him and it will bless a lot of people.

I know my talent is a gift from Him. In fact, I was a sucicidal young person and God and that one thing that I could do that my classmates couldn't literally kept me from doing something really stupid. Not to mention - it added to my testimony that He got me through years of deep dark depression that no child should have to endure.

Just thought it was interesting that God even used a barfly to encourage me! :)

That's a great testimony.

Once in a while I'll get a thought in my head and know it didn't come from me. It's happened on more than one occasion and I was always hesitant to say it was from God. One day my husband told me "if God can use the jawbone of an ass why can't he use you?" I stopped questioning or being embarrassed about telling people where these thoughts, messages or words come from.
