Dh turns 50 in two months and I do not want to throw a s.party for him. We are in a university community where he seems to be the oldest and everyone else is only around 35-40 and the others are very young students! !! For various reasons, I am very self-conscious that we are the oldest couple on the block and our kids are ony 13 and 9.

Thank you. Dh mentioned today that he has a business trip during his birthday week, so he will be gone on his birthday. So that takes the decision out of my hands. I will try to plan a beach vacation for him.
Thanks again,

Chimi--you're still worrying too much about what your relatives think.

Chimi,

I guess I don't think you should worry about age.

How are you going to feel when he turns 60 and your kids are 23 and 19?

Throw the party. Celebrate his milestone birthday. Do it gladly. Do it with joy.

If this were the 1300s, your hubby would be considered elderly because people didn't live much past 50.

The chances are he'll live to be 100 with the quality of life of an 80yo.
