How can I be friendly with SIL and yet keep her at a distance?

I have posted about this situation on and off and so sorry if this all sounds too familiar. But I could use your advice.

I usually don't see my il's unless there is a holiday gathering or other big family event.

Thank you!! It is not in my nature to say No and stand up for me and I paid the price when I let things boil over and yelled at her. I should have said No right in the beginning itself.

Kind of hard for OP to limit contact with her IL's since some have moved in with the OP.

OP, it's not rude to not call your SIL. How often does she come visit her husband parents at your house? (that's who moved in, right?) When she's there I would try to make myself invisible. By going into my own room, taking the kids and going to the park or shopping. Of course you can't do that each time, but the less time you spend around her the better off you'll be.

And lastly, no one can "make" you babysit their kids. I know it's hard for you to say "no", but you can do it!
