Not doing well with exercising, still very sore from the bike accident , so taking it easy a bit, still walking but that only makes my knees hurt. I'm just not sure about these new lifts on the shoes, can't see that it makes me walk easier without being painful later on . Anyway. If it's nice tomorrow I'll go out on my bike again but not in the forest , just on the side streets (where there are no dogs. )

Diet is also not so good,, but will start to rememdy that soon. I AM however eating more fruit, and that is a "biggie" for me! YEA!

That was an awful accident for you!! I had my fall two Saturdays ago and my knee is still bruised and pretty sore to the touch. Your fall was worse than mine, so it will take quite awhile for your bruising to heal. Sorry the new shoe lifts aren't helping more. That's a shame you can't bike in the forest for that sounds like an ideal place to bike. No one walks unleashed dogs in our parks here and all walkers, runners and bicyclists are very careful of each other. I just wish the dog owners would clean up their dog's poo better!! They're supposed to, but.....

Hope your diet remedy is in place by now. I started back on mine yesterday and it is way not fun!! I'm doing it, though, and little by little will continue to decrease portions. I went to my TOPS meeting Tuesday night and only gained 3 lbs back..whew!! Started back on walking again too. ::sigh::

I wonder if we will *ever* reach our goals?!!

Hi Hilary.
About the shoes: I have used orthonics for years for pinched nerves in the front part of my foot and for flat feet (no arch ). If I don't wear them religiously after a day of walking I'll be screaming in pain at night. I also have a pair for my houseslippers. This new lift is something else in addition to the orthonics, that is built into the sole of the shoe (you don't see it) but it is like a wedge and normally the higher part is on the side where the knee mostly hurts so mine would normally be on the inside of the shoe. Unfortunately, I'm also very bowlegged so that my lifts had to be built into the opposite side of the shoe (so the higher part is on the outside ). This should work, (I asked 2 different orthopedics before I let them re-work my shoes), but I find that it makes my ankles hurt and my knees. I feel like it didn't relieve the stress on the inside of the knee but added the stress of my ankles , which in themselves are arthritic. In the past couple days, I've tried just wearing a good fitting sneaker (with my normal orthonics) as they are much softer when I walk. Maybe using both versions will work. We'll see and if not then next month I'll go back to the orthopedic and see what he has to say.

I did not go bike riding as I thought, just too sore. It's raining today but will do some slow pedaling on my stationery bike.

Hilary, do you wear those "roll shoes" that you bought? How are they working out?

If you had to fall like that Donna least you should have been smart enough to do it in a shopping Mall. Could have set you up for life! LOL! Kiddin'. Glad you are on the mend now .....
