I am right there with you in the worry department Neverstopping. I have a friend in NJ who is agoraphobic and very stressed about the storm. She called me last night and we talked for about 3 hours. I told her to call me anytime even if she just needs me to listen to her breath.

I will take an earthquake over one of those east coast storms anytime!

Hi Thia. My dd and I were talking this afternoon about earthquakes vs hurricanes or tornados. We had earthquake tremors this summer, first we'd ever felt, here in south central KS. We both said we'd take the storms over the earthquake as we at least get warnings that they're coming and can take shelter. The earthquake was unexpected and VERY FREAKY SCARY!!

Good your NJ friend has you for support! I've been glued to tv weather news and Facebook as my extended family members are reporting in on FB what's going on at their locations in NJ. They're getting hammered with 85mph winds, lots of trees down, flooding, power out, but no significent or bad damage to their homes at this point though and that is a very good thing! Being hit with the eye of the storm after dark is making it more scary for them too.

Hope your family is ok. It is wild & wooly here in NH. It will be a loong slepless night ! I don't sleep well when it is this windy. I'm scared of the maple coming down on the house!

It should be subsiding after midnight....who knows! I'm just happy we did not get the winter blast to go along!!

My son,Justin,Is in PA- he thinks it is fun. BOYS ! makes a momma stress more...LOL He said he was fine- staying in after work

PAT...They're okay at this point as far as bad damage goes.  Thank you. I don't sleep well when it's bad windy either. So hope your tree stays upright!!

Well, Justin, I don't know if I'd call the storm "FUN", but it is exciting in a very scary sort of way. The damage is way not fun though!! Good he's okay and staying in! Does sound like a BOY! ;)

Hope all of you on the East Coast are keeping safe. I know most of the team is keeping an eye on CNN to keep up with what is going on.

Keep checking in and let us know that you are all safe.

I've been trying to follow it along on the news channel here in Munich..... yikes! that was so scary, and the aftermath is HUGE! Hoping all can be cleared out and "drained out" (the subways in NYC are filled with water I heard) ,,, I have a gf on Long Island, that must have been just awful. D: hope your NJ family members were not in the line of the storm Pat: so Jeremy thinks it's funny.... well we were young once too... better that he takes it like that and isn't scared of it... (()) As for the eathquakes over a cyclone..... not sure. Both are devasting and killers. Sadly, my dh's sisIL's family members were all buried & died in the terrible Izmit earthquake, there was no warning at all. It hit at night 7.8 . It's all tradgic (())

Suzan, yes it was very scary!! They're saying it's the worst disaster they've ever had in NY as far as the extent of damage and the massiveness of damage goes way beyond NY. Don't know if you've heard out there about the blizzard covering western Virginia that they say was caused by the Hurricane! I don't even want to imagine how terrible it must be for those in the storms path, those out of their homes and living in shelters, those who lost their medications or who are on oxygen, the new babies and children, the older people, the handicapped, people in hospitals, the diabetics and others needing medications, the pets and on and on the list goes. My heart goes out to all of them.

I've only heard from one cousin in NJ who is okay with no damage, just no power. She's found another way to post to Facebook though. Still wondering about many others of my extended family members who were in the storm's path as to how they're all doing. One cousin lives 7 miles inland from the NJ shore, but no word from him yet. I know he'll post to Facebook as soon as he can find a way as power is out everywhere. I'm so thankful for Facebook as it's a wonderful way to keep in touch.

Thinking about our iVillage team working in NYC. I hope they and their homes are all okay. This will, of course, delay the board fixes, too, but cannot be helped and we all understand.

What a horrible tragedy for your sis-in-laws family from the Izmit earthquake! That's something I don't think one could ever get over.

Donna,

I shared your concerns with the team and they are touched by your concern and understanding. :D

I am OK. everybuddy! We lost power for about 12 hours. No damage & no trees down in my yard Laughing

I talked to my son Justin in PA- he is good. did not lose power where he is but down the road where  we use to live got hit hard. Ny & NJ are in pretty bad shape- devastation everywhere...SAD.

I sent  our Bunny a message. Some in her area have  power outage- not sure of any other damage.

Hope everyone in the path is ok
