Cell phone users, a question.

We're seriously considering dropping our landline and making the switch to smart phones with a data plan, because we really don't want to pay the increase there will be in our cell phone bill, plus a landline bill. My question: Do you have only cell phone service and if you do, what are the benefits and drawbacks you've had? And for those of you with smart phones, are they easy to use?
My dd and her dh have been cell only for years now and really like it, and dd makes using her phone look like a piece of cake, but she's way more techie than I am and I worry I'll have trouble using a smart phone (it would have to be really smart, to make up for my lack of expertise, lol).
It would be nice to avoid all the telemarketers, though. At least for awhile, but I could designate special ring tones for family and friends and any other ring tones I can ignore, or at least screen, so that would be nice (we don't have call ID on our landline).
And it would be nice if I wanted to check Facebook or something while watching tv. I wouldn't have to get up and walk down the hall to do it if my phone were right there.
But it would take some getting used to. I wouldn't have a phone in every room like I do now, unless I brought it with me. And I'd have to be sure it was charged up every day or so, unlike my present cell phone which hardly gets used and only needs charging once every week or two.
So. What are your thoughts? Advice? Reassurance? Warning?
