WOW dr Pepper,, I love it too! What a wonderful b'day present. I used to order Reese's peanut butter cups for my ds for his XMAS stocking when we couldn't get them here anymore. It's just those little gestures that make alllll the difference. Great idea! WEll I know you gave them the cheque so that you can have Tay to yourself for a few days!!!! CONFESS girl! LOL (well maybe it is Olly 's dad,,, which ds is it)
Honestly Hilary, I don't really think so either. I know my FIL should not have been driving for the past 15 years, if ever. He is one lousy driver who never even turns his head to look to the left nor has never ever thought to look in the rear view mirror, just awful! Now at 90 he's soooo bad his car looks like a bumper car at an amusement park,, so many dents and scratches and he has no clue how they happened. He was the one who thought we were cruel to take my mom's car away from her, (she couldn't back out of the driveway and remember where she was).
:::yawn:: Good Sunday morning! Ds and ddil actually decided to catch a taxi back here to sleep last night or should I say a few hours ago!
Tay was perfect. I have to laugh. It is just after 5 a.m. here and about ten minutes ago she literally roared! I went up to sneak her down with me but heard her Mum .. shhhh, shhhh, shhh, pat, pat, pat! Sure enough, Tay is back asleep. They will NOT let her up most days before six unless ..........
I can't wait to see her this morning.
My other ds is off to China today and we may go and get Olly and him Mum later.
Next weekend we definitely have Tay and her parents one night and then just Tay the other night.
Ds loved his birthday present yesterday. A cheque yes to help them go to a family wedding in Queensland next year but also .. TA DA .. we found a can of Dr. Pepper! He loves the stuff and it is not sold here in supermarkets.
I think both my parents at at 85 and 87 can drive, and drive well. The other day dh and I were driving and a couple of *old* ladies made a right turn in front of oncoming traffic against a red light! Fair dinkum I thought someone was going to die! All was ok and the old lady driving was obviously quite shocked, as was her passenger. They proceeded up the hill made another turn and headed into a *Club* parking lot where they were obviously going to play the pokies all day.
What I am trying to say is that at the age of 85 plus and for some earlier, those little lapses of concentration or slowness to react can cause an accident.
Weighing things up in MY mind I am thinking it should be more about the public than the person whether someone can drive and I don't think people should be driving at my parent's age even if they can .... My Dad would explode if he heard me say this. He IS a good driver ...................
I have a spare room dear with some exercise equipment in it too. LOL congrats to your mom,,,, in your opinion do you think she can drive? LOL Happy birthday to her on monday,,, really neat present she gave herself. Maybe one big birthday party is the way to go Hilary, better than 2 big ones parties. Have to think positive! You'll get thru it. So calm down , it too will pass!
