It is sooooooooo slow here...even a strong close knit board like the SB is beginning to show the effects of iVillage's lack of interest in us.  So sad.....

So I'll take a poll  and I'll just spit it out....... I am just asking: no alterior motives (yet) so just be honest, we're all close enough after all these years together to figure something out.

has anyone thought to join a different group (forum etc) ?
Know of any good ones, user friendly etc

any thoughts on that question?
anyone on FB? (if so, any of our old members also there or on other groups and are they active?) Is it worth checking out?

Other thoughts.   Thanks.... again just throwing around ideas and thoughts.  I suppose it's bold of me to ask here, but I did
so there. LOL

I haven't looked into any other groups with a format like iVillage, but I am a very active member of Facebook.  Many old SB members are there, like Deb (twoki) and quite a few present SB members are, too. (And if you're on there and not a friend, please send me a request or let me know, so I can send you one).  I would definitely say it's worth checking out!  We can even have our own private group on FB.  I belong to one there now and it's nice to have a place with people I know well (many original members of iV from waaay back in the late 90's) where I can pretty much say things I want or need to say without all of FB knowing about it.

I've told iV in several surveys they've asked me to take that it breaks my heart to see what has happened to this site.  I used to frequent several boards and led a few over the years, too, but now the only board I go to is this one. I know my opinion holds no weight with the powers that be here, but if they're going to ask, I'm going to tell them exactly what I think and how sad it is to see what they've done to a once vibrant community.

And if TPTB give you grief for voicing your honest opinion, Suzan, that's just another nail in their coffin, because if they hassle you and make you leave, I think we'd all follow you and never look back. I know I would.

And, a bonus for FB subscribers: my page has tons of photos! Of me at all ages, of Colleen, and especially of Riley! And if you go to Colleen's page you can see more!

Suzan - I don't know of any other forums that would be good to work with.  I sometimes go to a board that my mom uses on delta forums - but I don't know how it really works or if it works well.  It's been a while since I visited there.  I am on facebook, but I'm only a bit familiar with the private groups.  As far as I can tell, they are pretty locked down so privacy should be pretty good to limit it to a select group.  If you find somewhere, let me know. I would be willing to set up a separate gmail account for the purpose of collecting email addresses so we can create a mailing list of interested sand boxers.  Since we can't send private messages through here, I don't know how else we can privately tell others how to find us on facebook or send an email.  Just rambling with thoughts here.

I can vouch for the fact that the private groups really are private. No one but invited members can post or see them.  The one I'm in has been a lifesaver many times when I want to vent about something, but don't want certain friends, family or all of FB to see it.

You don't need email addresses to invite people. Once they are on FB, you can just PM them through FB with the invitation.

I hate to see it come to this, but I know it's been coming for awhile now. It has become apparent that IV has no intentions of ever fixing the board problems. If they don't want us here, I don't know why they don't just cancel the boards. At least by dragging their feet, it allows members to figure what else to do to keep friendships going.

As for FB, I am a member there and a part of several private groups there too. None of them include IV people though. I was in one small one of IV people, but it wasn't a good fit for me so I stopped posting to it and they eventually cancelled me and that's okay.

I have been on many forums over the years at various websites and none of them are as good as IV, or as good as IV used to be before they destroyed the boards. On FB it's more like a cross between a chat room and a message board. The difference is that at FB, the messages are shorter and not as conversational as on IV, but their can be more of the posts too. Hard to explain, you just have to give it a try and see what I mean.

I like it much better at IV and am able to cope with the mess they've made and are not fixing just because I love it here that much. I know others don't have that patience though and want to move on. Wherever you decide to go, let me know and I'll be there.

Hi Ruth,

I am not sure if anyone has helped you with this or not but this is what we know. There is a delay in authentification caused from the database performance issues. This means that log in takes longer than what most of us are used to. If you try to post before the log in sequence is completed, you will get that unauthorized to post message. To avoid that message, log in then wait a few seconds until your name appears in the upper-left hand corner of the board. (Most of the time you can see your browser going through the process).

Just about all the error messages that people are seeing are due to the database problem. Once the database has been fixed, then most of the issues people are seeing will clear up. This has definitely taken longer than we had hoped for but we will get it fixed.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

The problem is this has been an on going issue since before Christmas....That is 4  going on 5 months....I find it totally unacceptable....and really feel like ivillage is not interested in groups anymore...which is fine....I understand But don't expect support for ANY of ivillage from people who were once staunch supporters....Ruth
