Hello everyone!

Just wanted to stop by and see how everyone was doing.   I know it has been years since I have been on here but I was just sitting here thinking about you ladies today and decided to drop by and say hi!!

A little update from me,  I finally graduated with my Bachelors degree in project management,  I am now 4 classes away from my Masters.  I now work for a large chemical plant but will soon be changing careers again.   I am still married to the same woman and our son just celebrated his 7th birthday.

I have spent the last several years on the road but now I am back home in Tennessee and I hoping beyond all hope I can stay here.

So catch me up on what I have been missing.

Welcome back J.-Man nice to see you again. Congraton successfully completing your BA and wow working on your MA,,, that's great news! So you're back in Tennessee,,, do you get up to the cabin at all? I'm a grandmother as of last week. Sweet little 8lb bundle of joy & poopie diapers LOL His name is Mike. That's my huge news. You've decided to drop back here at ivillage at a kind of hectic time as we are going thru another huge change in format and there are many things that are not working at th point (sure you noticed that only a few have their siggies back working and many other things are not working.. but be patient for replies, as you knows everyone loves to hear from you. FYI: Suzan is sitting here in flannel pj's and wool socks,,, ;O)

WOW congratulations on your new bundle of joy!! I am so excited to hear that you are a grandmother now. Now I can give you the saying I give my mom "Kids are spoiled because noone will spank grandma" LOL!! Yeah I have noticed that the boards have changed up some, so it will probably take me a bit of time to get use to it. As for the cabin, yes I get to go up there alot now. My mom and her husband actually just got back from Alaska mining for gold so they have not been here all summer, but now it is getting cold they came back. It is almost hunting season so I have plans to be there alot more often now. Now for the most important part-WOW pj's huh? and wool socks? You know I bet Hose would be warmer than the flannel pjs and socks LOL!!!! Dang I have missed ya'll!

Good to see you here again, J-Man!  Congrats on earning your BA and going for your Masters! Very impressive. I hope you get to stay put for a good long while now.

As for me, I'm a grandma! Dd and her dh were finally chosen by a mom to be to adopt her baby. Dd was there at the birth and they took her home when she was 2 days old, so she's truly been theirs from birth. Her name is Riley Taylor and she was born June 5, 2011 and is the light of her parents' and all her grandparents' lives. My siggie shows her at a year old and if you want, you can see the latest pix of her at a Halloween party this past Saturday on my facebook page. Here's a link I think will work. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151289814353784.516624.602703783&type=1&l=b33bf9de9b Go ahead and check out the other albums of her, too, if you like - or any of my photos.

In not so great news, I found out my thyroid went nuts, destroyed one of my vocal cords and developed cancer. I had it removed in Sept of 2011, but the cancer hung on and traveled to my spine. I'm in the process of getting rid of it (fingers crossed) now (hence the references you may see to biopsy and radiation treatment).  As for my vocal cord, I had a procedure done that plumped it up so the good one works with the bad one better. My voice is okay most of the time, unless I talk too much, try to yell (or sing high notes, lol), or get upset. Then it either disappears or gets real scratchy. At least I can talk almost normally most of the time and eat and drink without too much coughing (did you know your vocal cords are an integral part of eating and drinking? They are.)

So, that's me. Hope the medical stuff wasn't tmi.

Well I am thrilled to hear about your new grandbaby!  That is truly some terrific news.

Now as for the cancer that is horrible.  I really hate to hear that something that terrible has happened to someone as good as yourself.  I hope and pray that the treatments work for you and that Doctors can get you all better again.

Thanks. According to the doctors, thyroid cancer is pretty easy to treat - compared to other kinds anyway, so they seem optomistic that radiation will take care of it.

My wife ended up having a over active thyroid and lost about 30 lbs in a month.  So they had to give her a radiation treatment that killed off part of her thyroid and now she has to take medicine on a daily basis in order to keep it normal.

Most people do not think about it but the thyroid gland is a very important gland in the body.

I am glad the Doctors feel that it will be easy to treat.

Yeah, I was hoping, once they got the thyroid out and got me on medicine, that I'd lose weight, but so far, not so much, lol. Guess it's up to me as usual.
