Well, it's more a rant.

The online pharmacy just notified me (online) that they're filling the prescription they got from my doctor ....with the GENERIC!!!! I thought the doc knew to specify the brand name!  I tried to cancel the order, but couldn't, so I'll have Tom deal with them later and I called the doc's office again.  I told the receptionist that it HAD to be LIPITOR and she said she'd tell the doc.  I have a feeling the doc will say she already ordered that and we'll be back to square one!  WHY can't anything be simple? Why, if the doc did order Lipitor, did the pharmacy change it to the generic? Tom already talked to them about it, so they should have been expecting the brand name order, but Noo! they took it upon themselves to change it, I guess!  I'm so upset about this and so mad at .....everyone, I am practically nauseous!

Update: I finally got through to someone at the pharmacy and she said she'd make sure the order went through as brand name only. And I had to make sure she knew this order came from the doctor, so we won't (shouldn't) get charged full price. Fingers crossed it all ends up well.

Your pharmacy may have you listed to give you generic brands for all prescriptions. Mine does at my request. I would have to specify myself otherwise if I wanted to change that. Glad you got it straightened out though.

I wish I could go to a real pharmacy and make sure it was filled correctly, but dh's insurance wants to use this one, so it's the one we have to use - no matter how frustrating it may be! The Lipitor should help. I took it for years before the generic came out and never had a problem until they came out with the generic and the pharmacy switched it to save them money. I haven't heard yet from either the doc or the pharmacy, so I'm going to assume everything is okay. It better be!
