Maybe it's because the trip to Chicago was cancelled, or maybe because I'm so tired of doing the same thing day in and day out until I don't even know - or care - what day it is, but I'm ready to just take off by myself and go somewhere. ANYwhere! I've hinted and come right out and asked dh if we can go somewhere for a day or a weekend, and he just mutters noncommitally and we do NOTHING!

I agree with Teri, make a trip that you can make with or without Tom and tell him: in or out? Of course if he's out, then you must go anyway,, so maybe a bus trip... or make a trip with your gf next door,,, something girly, an overnight with a concert or something .....
I also think that just going with Tom wherever he wants to go whenever he wants to go for the day, is not the answer. It's a nice day trip but sounds like you need a REAL trip and a total change of scenery! Nothing wrong with that.
Not that I do any of this myself. Seems like I'm travelling alot, which I am, but I'm always going to the same place or the same 3 places in the same locations and all that entail , opening, cleaning and closing up house. (next Monday I go again.) . UGH!

As a matter of fact, about 45 minutes ago, I told dh that if his mom is not totally healthy (she has a nasty cold /sore throat and cough now) when we get there on Monday, I will NOT be visiting her. He didn't "see how we could get out of it...." so I just smiled and said,,, "read my lips dear, I will not visit any sick people next week, mother or not" . I will not just get sick all over again,, it's been 6 weeks and I'm tired of being sick. Now THAT'S a RANT!

Can't remember the last time I did something for fun--with or without DH. Probably my trip to PA last Sept--always have fun when I'm with my family! But certainly nothing here at home.
