Pretty pictures. Interesting how in a country that is not Christian will decorate like they do and play Christmas music. Where here in the US so many people will say Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas because they're afraid of offending others.

I like and use the expression Happy Holidays more often than using Merry Christmas. I'm not afraid of offending someone though, just feel that before the 24th, it's not Christmas just the days leading up to it. To me that's like telling someone have a nice weekend when it's only Tuesday. LOL

Hong Kong,, yep I've seen pictures and they really really can celebrate elaborately.
I think in Turkey they are actually decorating for New Years, which is a big deal there. But whatever the reason, it fits my need to have some Christmas cheer in December, when I'm away from my home.

Hmm, that's an interesting perspective you have there Suzan. I grew up with people saying Merry Christmas and its been that way most of my life so it sort of bothers me to change things just so as not to offend some which is what most retailers have done around here.

Gail, I 've lived in Germany now for 32 years and if I were to say Frohe Weihnachten this early in the season they'd look at me like I was from Mars, even though Bavaria is a mainly Catholic state. LOL
I do like to say Merry Christmas and I can't see why it would offend anyone.
Well as for retailers, I don't pay much mind to what they are doing,, honestly they started selling XMAS cookies in September, so what do they know? ;O)
So for tonight anyway, Merry Christmas and have a nice weekend, Gail.

Yes you should really do that,,, also it will keep you out of the house without grands and neices and kids for a day,, just wandering around together holding hands with your lovin' man. A GOOD change in other words.

Absolutely ! So many holidays at this time of year... and it is nice to give others an appropriate greeting.
