Stories of the weird

I've been thinking today of my dearly departed dog, Smokey, and when I think of him, I often think of something unexplainable that happened shortly after he died. All I can call it is a ghostly visitation.

It was late, the wee hours of a morning about a month after Smokey had died. I woke a bit, hearing Smokey's tags as he entered the bedroom, then felt him nudge my hand, as he did if he needed to go out at night. Please pause here to note I felt him nudge my hand - I heard his tags.

I woke more fully and realized with sadness that Smokey was gone and it must have been a dream. But then . . . I noticed a strange light coming from down the hall! Mystified, I got up and went to investigate.  The refrigerator door was ajar! I have no idea how it got left open, but I'm sure that Smokey was watching out for us and knew that wasn't right, so came to me to let me know about it.

How about you? Any odd or unexplained things ever happen to you? Do tell!

I don't have any stories as interesting as yours with the fridge ending! My sweet little Shelby dog died 4 months ago and I still her her tags and look for her when we return from being gone. Years ago after my kitty, Prinny, died, I heard her sweet little meow for a very long time, well over a year. Our furbabes grab ahold of our hearts and never let go and we miss them forever. Frown

Hi Ann, the weirdest thing is that I saw this thread when I wasn't signed in and then when I signed in the thread was gone.... so I could not reply before this. Anyway,,, I really believe that smokey was there to let you know that he was OK and that he was watching after you , Tom and Millie. Probalby many will think that I've lost a few nuts and bolts here but after my dad died, that summer I was so very sad so I took my ds and went to my summer house. I was alone in the bedroom as my dh hadn't arrived as he had to work an extra week. Well, one night I slowly woke up and felt something. In the doorway was a filmy floaty type of thing. It was my dad. He came to let me know that he was on his way to heaven and that all was OK and since I was alone in a foreign country with ds, he wanted to make sure all was safe for us. How do I know this? Well , before hand I just couldn't get these things out of my mind, wondering if he went to heaven and if all was OK with him, I also just had this nervous feeling for quite awhile after his death, I was just jittery all the time. AFter I saw him, the feeling was gone, jitterness was gone, I was peaceful and calm and knew he was gone and that he was also peaceful. Another time years earlier before I was married, I was in my NYC apartment and I was in the dining room when I got this very very sad feeling and wanted to cry. I thought oh , something's just not right. About 5 minutes later, a huge painting that was hanging in the living room crashed to the floor. Then I really got even more sad and it wasn't even an hour later that my mom called and said that my uncle had died. I asked her when and she said, "about an hour ago". Thanks for sharing your experience Ann.

I thought something like that (the lost post) might have happened. Glad it showed up again!

I totally believe your father came to you. I think our loved ones watch us and come to us in some form or another when we need them.  I know my dad did for my sister.  Back in 1998, I think, after my dad had been gone a few years, my sister wanted my mom to fly from WI to AL for a visit.  Mom didn't want to fly alone and my sister was racking her brain trying to figure out how to get Mom to her house. She said she suddenly felt as if someone was in the room and heard our dad's voice, clear as could be, say "Ask your sister". She did and I gladly accepted. We had a very nice time, and I got my first plane ride, lol!
