Surviving Christmas Week???

It's over!! Hope you all had a great Christmas!! Are any of you still celebrating?

I don't know about all of you, but my dh and I are worn out today, the day after Christmas!! We have an Open House to go to later today from 4 - 6pm and we are going to have to drag ourselves out the door for we don't feel like doing anything at all!!

We'll have my two youngest grandloves here Thursday and Friday and maybe my two oldest grands on Thursday too. It'll be fun! We'll play the game Hedbanz, (like Headbands), which one of the grands got for Christmas yesterday and we had a lot of fun with. Will probably play UNO, too, and maybe I can get them to settle down and watch a Christmas movie so I can doze in my chair beside them!! Fingers crossed on that one..LOL!!

Then on Saturday, we have a wedding to go to for dh's (our) niece!! We are so looking forward to January when we'll have a week of nothing to do!! Bring it on!!

Sure am tired of all of the bad for us foods too!! Today we'll eat junk and tomorrow if there's any left, it will go in the trash!!!

Have a good rest of your week everyone!! Smile

Suzan...Thank you, I'll take a look at that link from Thia in a bit.

Yes, I do like being out and about, but I'm still tired from Christmas and all the preparations from the week before too!! We didn't make it to the Open House yesterday. Just couldn't make myself get cleaned up, make-up, dressed in better clothing than my 'hand arounds', get into the cold car and drive in the cold weather. DH agreed of course..lol!

The kids and I are having a lazy day in our pj's. They're playing online games and I'm gabbing with y'all! Dh is playing online too. Oh, no, I just peeked over to see what he's doing and he's adding movies to our Netflix queue. That means I'll have to go into it later and move some of his choices way down to the bottom of the list..lol! We both prefer 'chick flicks', but sometimes he gets a wild hair and adds some action flicks that I don't care for. We'll see. ;)

Nice your decorations are put away. Wish I had a magic wand for mine!! I have a couple of loads of laundry to do, too, but not up to it either. Maybe later today. Nice Coffee is bunking out with you!

I'm officially off of all weight gaining foods now and not being tempted by the junk. If the temptations do begin, though, they'll all go into the trash!!

Don't know why you can't post photos. Do you not use Photobucket or another hosting site? You can just copy-paste from there.

The wedding is still two days away, so we should be rested by then. It will be a fun family time of dh's.

Pat...I always feel badly for those of you who 'get' to work the day after a holiday. So tiring!! Good you came home today though. Did you get the bad snow storms up that way?

Yum on the pork pies and other choices!! Oh, darn, so hard when kids go to both parents homes for holiday dinners. Maybe make a note on your calendar for next year to ask them if they're going to eat there or at your house. We had that problem in past years and when they ate at the other parents home first, we took turns, we only had light stuff for later and desserts at our home. Now they do Christmas another day with the inlaws and we get C-Day. So nice and it's okay with the inlaws too!

Oh, that's too bad that Wayne got sick!! Sure is going around here, too, and my dd2 & her family all got it. DSonIL couldn't be here, but the rest of them were well enough to make it. Nice gifts, have fun shopping!!

In my opinion, staying home for NYE is a smart thing to do!! I hope we don't get any invitations!! That is too bad that Wayne will be working though. Hope he feels better by then.

Pat..Thanks, the grands are fun. They're pretty good at entertaining themselves too. Thank goodness for technical thingies!! lol

A winter wedding would be nice...however...this is a theme wedding (I don't care for themed weddings, much prefer traditional) and the theme is tropical!! The ceremony will be in the same room as the reception, so we won't have to drive to two different locations. They will set up a decorated archway for the ceremony with tropical trees and other beach stuff around it. The table decotations will be candles and seashells with some kind of beachy stuff hanging on the walls. Oh, well, it will be fun people though!

I love turkey and would have been sad to not get to have a sandwich too!! My dh and I both prefer dark meat, so I cook thighs about once a month year round.

Pat...I always feel badly for those of you who 'get' to work the day after a holiday. So tiring!! After a lazy Christmas day I was ready to work! The office was very busy but the store was kind of quiet-guess I missed all the busy time there! LOL Good you came home today though. Did you get the bad snow storms up that way? We have over a foot right now and it is still coming down! howling winds too

Yum on the pork pies and other choices!! LaughingOh, darn, so hard when kids go to both parents homes for holiday dinners. Maybe make a note on your calendar for next year to ask them if they're going to eat there or at your house. That's the plan- this year we were told at the last minute & there was no mention of eating dinner there. Got the "MMM...YUM...pork pies from Harvey's" NO mention of dinner at her house. And his son lives here and saw all the food I bought. They had a big family party with their mother's family on Sunday & Christmas Day,too ! That is why the big GGGRRRRR....mostly.These are grown kids too! We had that problem in past years and when they ate at the other parents home first, we took turns, we only had light stuff for later and desserts at our home. Now they do Christmas another day with the inlaws and we get C-Day. So nice and it's okay with the inlaws too! Ha...we'd probably get a bigger shaft when there will be inlaws involved!

Oh, that's too bad that Wayne got sick!! Sure is going around here, too, and my dd2 & her family all got it. DSonIL couldn't be here, but the rest of them were well enough to make it. Nice gifts, have fun shopping!!  Silly man...sniffling & sneezing...achy all over and he went to work! Said he was feeling a bit better- I doubt it. He just hates to call out.I'm sure the others did not like him sharing germs...KWIM ??

In my opinion, staying home for NYE is a smart thing to do!! I love our walk on the beach and seeing the fireworks over Portsmouth Harbor. Sure will miss that. We get invites to join friends at fancy dress up parties but he is a party pooper so I have to admire & be jealous of pictures....sigh....

Yes, Suzan, it was really fun watching Riley with her presents. She really does seem to like the toys more than the boxes, which sort of surprised me, lol.  She knows what she likes and doesn't like, though!  I'd bought a little stuffed doll with wild curly hair I thought was cute and thought R would like, but she looked at it, shook her head at it and tossed it aside! Totally dissed the little thing, LOL!  She also tossed aside the clothes, but I wasn't surprised there.  I'll give her a few years to start getting a sense of fashion, lol.  But she really seemed to like a driving toy we got her and a little "Happy Sounds" house Colleen said she wanted.

Your holiday sounds really nice, too. The cake sounds really cute - and good! I bet you're looking forward to next year when Mikie is more able to know what's going on and get into the spirit of gifts and such.  As I said last year when R was 6 months old - everyone should have a child to celebrate Christmas with. It livens up the holiday and brings out the kid in everyone.
