I wasn't able to get to the store until Monday, but I did take a look-see at a few boxes and cans of cake mix and frosting.

Duncan Hines have very short good dates on their cake mixes.

Twoki, thank you so much for taking the time to do that research for me. I appreciate it. I wrote back to the company and they refunded the amount for the missing items but said they would not exchange the cake mixes. C'est la vie,,, annoying but I'll just be sure to use them up before summer... LOL (not have them sitting there cluttering up my newly cleared out cupboards) I'd like to think that Duncan Hines has a shorter expiration date because they put in less preservatives but pretty sure that's not the case. (stop laughing dear) ;O) thank you again.

I took a walk on the search engine side and found out that this is normal for Duncan Hines.

Well thank you. Here I thought they all used leavening with either bicarbonate or natrium... "live and learn" ;O) I'll just be sure to use it by the expiration date. Thank again.
