My scan came back negative, but my thyroglobulin levels are extremely high. Higher than they were before. So my doc wants to do a  PET scan. I don't know yet when that will be - I'll have to call the cancer care place and set it up, probably for next week. If that scan shows something, he said that he and I will "have to have a talk".  That sounds very ominous.

I'm trying not to worry, but I admit, I am worried. Why would my level be so high if there's no cancer? What treatment will I have to have if this PET scan shows cancer?

I should call, I guess.  I'll let you know what I find out.

I admit it sounds worrisome, but better to just get your appointment and do the PET scan as it can surely just be for "ruling out" instead of proving you have something... think positive still Ann,,, try not to question it all,, it does no good in the end...as we tend to overthink (easier said thean done)

Thanks, I'm trying to stay positive and take things as they come. It turns out I may have called sooner than the doc thought I would. The clinic or cancer center didn't have any orders from my doc. They said they'd contact him and get back to me. So, again, I wait.

Okay, I set it up for September 4 at 9 AM. I was hoping for something even later - after the 15th would be nice, lol. Then I wouldn't have the worry that this will mess up the camping trip.  The scan won't, but the results and whatever the results may mean might. But I'm not going to worry about that. At least I'm going to try not to worry about that. If the trip has to be cancelled, that's the way it goes.

Now that's the girl. Don't even think of the trip,, your health comes first ,hands down. I 'm glad you got an earlier appointment, get it over with. So far I have had to cancel everything since April and that still continues. My dh is so very supportive and now I've finally stopped feeling guilty that we can't do this and that because of my condition.... well this isn't about me but just wanted to share that we must take care of ourselves when we need to and not feel badly if something falls thru..... so again, just take care, eat well, do whatever exercise you can , be sure to get enough fresh air, talk to Riley, and take a peek at the "Cat-titudes" that I posted mainly with you in mind as you love cats and the qoutes are uplifting. Good that your one scan was negative!

Also good that you set the appt up for the other scan sooner so you don't worry all that time don't you think?

Thoughts and prayers for you.

I loved the quotes. Thanks for posting them. I'm trying to stay upbeat and to believe the "talk" the doc indicated we'll have to have isn't as ominous as it sounded. I just wish he hadn't said that - or hadn't said it the way he did, lol. And I wish the cost of all these tests and treatments wasn't so high!

In a case of be careful what you wish for . . . The clinic where I'm having the PET scan done called to say they had to reshedule my scan and the best they could do was the 17th.  I'm not too sorry it is going to be after the camping trip, but, then again, I'll have it hanging over my head longer (last year's camping trip I was worried about the surgery and losing my voice. It's always something).  And I'm supposed to eat low carb the day before and relax (relax???). The low carb diet won't be a problem, but we'll be returning the day before and I'll be doing some packing up and driving. Hope that's not too strenuous for them. I'll let Tom pack the heavy stuff and then I'll lay around when I get home - as usual, LOL!

sounds like a plan letting tom do a lot of it.

low carb is not bad, i have been doing that for awhile and really don't miss what i'm not eating, lol. guess i am just weird.

hopefully you will be able to have a good time on your camping trip. it's easy to say try not to think about it, but i know that will be hard to do.
