My scan came back negative, but my thyroglobulin levels are extremely high. Higher than they were before. So my doc wants to do a  PET scan. I don't know yet when that will be - I'll have to call the cancer care place and set it up, probably for next week. If that scan shows something, he said that he and I will "have to have a talk".  That sounds very ominous.

I'm trying not to worry, but I admit, I am worried. Why would my level be so high if there's no cancer? What treatment will I have to have if this PET scan shows cancer?

I should call, I guess.  I'll let you know what I find out.

Well I know Ann, but just call and tell them, it will be one less thing that's in your mind. (())

Thanks. I have good days and blue days. Today is kind of a blue one, because I told C about the scans and all. I was hoping all would be fine after the tests last week and I wouldn't have to worry her, but now that it's got to go further, I thought she'd better know. I still haven't told my sister and brother. I will. I have to. But I hate with a passion talking about it! Actually telling someone about it makes it more real.

I had the PET scan done on my legs when I had all that excruciating pain last year,, wasn't tumors ,,, so as I said it's more to "rule out" so no worry at this point. There are most likely many reasons that the levels could be so high, but since you had the cancer they need to rule that possibility out completely as that would be something that needs to be treated aggressively soon, other reasons well there are many but worst case scenario needs to be clarified first.... Sounds like you are in VERY good hands Ann, and that's what's important.

You'll have fun for sure and it will be good for you to be away , it'll keep your miind off things and with Miss Riley there you'll have lots to do ;O) (())

Keep us posted and if you need to talk , do so anythime, we are all here for you.... (())

If I come home a day earlier, I'll miss the get together and that's mainly why I'm going! I'm sure I'll be relaxed enough for them on Monday. This scan is almost always used to find cancer, which is the only reason my doc could think of that my levels are still so high. The PET scan will show if there's any cancerous tissue left. I'm hoping for nothing to show up, but if it doesn't, why are my levels so high? Time will tell, I guess.

I don't suppose you could come home a day earlier? (so that you can really relax before hand...) Anyway, just let T do the heavy work,,
Still Ann, don't worry, I assume that your dr talked to the clinic (you said he said he would),,, so if they can wait that long, it's most likely it's just a scan to rule out..... don't ya think? (())

Yes, you are!! LOL!! Those choices made me remember one of the meals I miss. It's at Village Inn and it's an egg substitute omelet with small multi grain pancakes and fresh fruit. The omelet is really good even though it's egg substitute, has a sauce on it something like picante and I use sugar free syrup on the pancakes. So good!! Darn, now I'm salivating!! LOL

it's surprising how much you can eat on a low carb diet. i never feel bloated anymore or miserable after i eat and i think it's because of the way i am eating now. plus losing 17 lbs. hasn't hurt either, lol.

Ellen, I'm like that too now. I'm dairy free and carb free and, therefore, gluten free. Eliminating those foods took away all of my arthritis pain in my hands and elbows!! I think the only foods I miss are legumes and nuts. Of course there's other foods I would like to have, but I really don't miss them. What foods do you miss?? Congrats on losing 17 lbs!! That's fantastic!!

Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. I'm not worried too much about the scan - it shouldn't be any worse than scans and MRIs I've already had, but I do worry about what's next if this scan shows there's still cancerous tissue. Radiation and chemotherapy come to mind (shudder). But, as dh keeps telling me, don't freak over what may be. We'll deal with whatever comes, when it comes.

Yes, that's what I would worry about too, hard not to even though you conjure up all of your good positive strength!! I like your husband's attitude, though, and I would feel that way also. I've always been that way...whatever happens happens, we'll deal with it and go on!! What I always tell my dd's, "We can do this!!"
