1. When was your last vacation and where?
A couple of years ago, when we went to Vermont for a big reunion. Other than that, it's just been a couple days here and there, camping or going somewhere for a day.
2. Do you own vacation property?
No

1. When was your last vacation and where?

Last February was our last big trip. We went on a 9 day Southern Caribbean cruise plus two days in Miami, FL. We've also taken a couple of 3 or 4 day trips to Kansas City, MO since then also.

2. Do you own vacation property?

We own three time shares, but don't stay at them. We use our points to go somewhere different each time.

1. When was your last vacation and where? -> I wouldn't exactly call it a vacation, more of an extended weekend.

I can't remember the last time we went away for more than a night or two.

My last vacation was for 11 days the last part of june to my beach house on the Marmara Sea.

VAcation property: We own 2 summer houses, one on the Marmara Sea, and the other on the Aegean Sea. We go to one every couple years the other I have not been to in about 5 years. My ds and dil use that one every summer and would like me to renovate it (although it really doesn't need it at all). Maybe next year, then again maybe not.

I suppose you could call my apartment in Ankara anohter vacation house. Sure beats having to stay with my inlaws. LOL

I would also like to add something to all those who think that having vacation homes is a piece of cake. It's not. Tons of work opening & closing down the house for the season, worrying about break ins , your own place means no 5 star treatment, you clean , you cook, you do laundry, no one thinks that you are along for a vacation either LOL etc.. Need I go on. It's nice when you have young kids though.
So my advice is dream about a vacation home or cabin but pack and go to a hotel!

Suzan, you make some good points about owning a vacation home. It does sound like it has it's good points and not so good ones. Still, though, the familiarity would be nice. I vacationed a couple of times at a former friend's condo in a gated community and they have a trustworthy maid service come in a day or two before they arrive there. Then after they leave, they have the maid service come back again to clean afterwards too. They've used the same maid service for many years and it works well. The condo is in a southern state, so I don't know that they shut down for the winter. It's a nice place to go to during the winter months. When a bad storm or hurricane is approaching, they have the grounds keepers lower the metal window coverings for protection, so they don't have to be there to do that either. It's a nice set up. Wish we had a vacation home like that, but it will never happen in this lifetime..lol!

What I would like to do is rent an ocean beach home where you can step out the door and you're on the beach. My nail technician does this with her family and they've always stayed in very nice places. At the last place they stayed in, the home owner even had a golf cart available to them to drive around the area and to and from the beach that was about a ½ block away and they also had beach chairs for them to use. They really liked that a lot too!
