LOL! I had to enlarge the pic before I saw what it was! At first I thought it was a beaver! I bet that did scare you when you saw it!

It looks like a Maine Coon cat, the same breed as the cat my family had when I was in my teens, and if so, I bet it is a sweetie. The one we had was named Foo Foo and in his prime, he was bigger than some small dogs, lol. He was a formidable "mouser", too, and more than mice. Once he caught a rabbit, climbed to my brother's second story (very high second story) window, scratched to be let in (he'd do that a lot), and brought it inside! My brother woke my parents up, saying he thought Foo Foo had caught a rat, but we were all amazed to see he'd caught a rabbit! (sorry, rabbit lovers). When he fluffed up in fear or aggression, he could look pretty scary. But he was the sweetest, cuddliest cat in the world. Well, unless someone other than my mom played the piano. He used to freak my sister's friend out when she'd come over and start playing Mom's piano. He never attacked, just sat on a chair near the piano and glared at her, lol!

Ann..That's funny..FooFoo the rabbit attacking piano guard!! LOL!! So funny the different personalities cats have!! This one looks a lot like Maggie my dd2's cat, long gone now, who was a feline wild woman!! It had the same coloring, same very long bushy hair, but was not cuddly or sweet at all!! It would go nuts if anyone came near her with a hairbrush!! Consequently, her long  bushy hair was always matted making her look sloppy and wild!! She was never friendly and sometimes even not to dd. I don't know what makes some cats like that.

Well I suppose it is possible it's a Maine Cat,,, although it's the first time I've ever seen it before. Kitty corner to us out the back yard there is a family of Americans living there (I can hear the kids screaming around in English LOL) so possibly it's theirs? Not sure otherwise how there would be a Maine coon cat here,,, but it was huge (bigger than what that photo showed! )

Maine Coons are very big. Foo Foo weighed 25 pounds in his prime! And I think anyone can have a MC. It's just a breed. The breed may have started in Maine, but I think It's all over the world by now.

Here's a photo of me and Foo Foo. You can see he's quite an armful. But doesn't he have a sweet face?

Thanks for the compliment, but I wasn't that young (at least I didn't think so at the time. I was about 18 (I know, because I'm wearing one of Tom's Navy pea coats, and I met him when I was 18). You can see why my ID was checked in bars till I was 30, LOL!
