My Whines:  It's COLD!!! It never got out of the single digits today. And it's icy. We got some rain late the night before last and then it snowed over the top of that, so the roads, sidewalks and driveways were just sheets of ice yesterday.

My Whoo Hoos: I finished a book this afternoon and I enjoyed it.
I finished a little craft project I'd been working on - some coasters. Just decoupaging pretty paper to tiles, but they look nice and I could manage it, so I'm happy. Now, along with making book strings and sticking fake flowers into various containers, I have 3 things I can do, lol!
A local grocery store manager called me last night in response to a complaint I made on the store's website. She explained that the thing I was complaining about was due to a badly worded sign and then was so apologetic, she asked if she could come to my house and give me something! I'm not one to refuse freebies, so I said she could. She gave me a $30 gift card and an orchid! The orchid is beautiful, but I'm not sure I can keep it alive. I've got a black thumb! I've had some suggestions from friends with orchid experience, though, so I'm hoping for the best!

Whine....

SNOW!! I don't care how pretty it is! I don't care that it's expected in winter! I just want it GONE!!! We had to cancel going to a funeral this morning as it was way over on the other side of town and the snow storm was really bad.

DH's odd symptoms came back yesterday and we had an appointment for him this afternoon. It's not too far from where we live. They were able to bump us up earlier, thankful for that as we had to make that appointment. Now we'll be going back to the cardiologist Friday to get a heart monitor put in place and it's way over on the other side of town!! Crossing digits that we can make it over there!!

Other than all of that, everything is swell!! Heh!

WooHoos....

We're getting needed moisture with this snow.

DH's doctor thinks he has a blood vessel spasm in his heart or arrhythmia. If the heart monitor agrees, it will be controlled with medication. Glad it's not something more serious than that.

All of our families are safely at home and made it through this snow storm with no mishaps! Schools are all closed as another bad storm is coming through during the night and tomorrow. Oh, joy.

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!

Checking in  and then back to bed.

ann:  really nice on the GC and the orchid.  I love orchids and have pretty good luck.  The main problem people have with them, is wrong watering .    Like african violets, orchids thrive in a north window, they like light but not direct sunlight (no south or west).   Water once a week, and to do that you should lift the orchid /dirt in it's plastic container out of the decorative container and hold it over the sink.   Run water thru it and under the big leaves and to the sides of them (not over the leaves).  Really drench it until the water just pours out the bottom. Then just let it drip out the bottom and plop it back in the decorative container.  It shuold never sit in water.  No more than that.  Let the blooms fall off naturally.  When it finishes blooming let me know and I'll walk you thru the stem cutting, that is important.       I'm glad you could make your coasters...sounds like fun.

D:  Sorry that J's trouble is back again,,,, (be sure to let them know he had eye surgery recently,, one never knows.....) Hope he's fine real soon.  Tell me about snow.... ours is up to my knees, the only one that likes it is Coffee and the 2 blackdogs across the street who get out there and roll over and over iin it on their backs with their legs flying in the air....  LOL  very cute though.  Hope yours melts soon,,,

Hugs, do you like the cook top,, must look clean and new and pretty.

Pat:  hurrah on the vacation time!   hoping Wayne will have some time off too(at the same time that is LOL)

As for me:  same ole, same ole, no whines no wahooos.... well wahoooos : the kids (ds, dil, Mikie & Coffee ) are healthy and happy so that makes me happy.  OK off to bed.  Tootles...

Another Whine....

This darned snow storm dumped 14.2" on us!! It's the 2nd biggest snow storm in the history of the city. Most businesses were closed today and most roads impassable. What a mess!!

My two youngest grandloves are coming tomorrow as school is closed again due to weather conditions. I hope their dad can make it up our street to get them here!! Our homeowners association pays to have all of our driveways and walks plowed, but the plows were not able to get here today. Sure hope they show up tomorrow!! Neither of us are able to shovel now, dh due to his heart issues and me as it's too deep, wet and heavy for my back to handle. So ready for spring!!

This is our deck. We can't open the door as the snow is drifted up against it. It's a swing out type of storm door. The storm toppled our deck furniture and drifted above it.
