Bachelorette Party Advice!

I am the maid of honor in my best friend Jenn's wedding in September, so I need to start planning her bachelorette party. We live about an hour out of Baltimore so she wants to go down there to do something fun. I'm 22 and have never planned one before so I'll need all the tips I can get!

Most of the girls are my age, and we're all pretty strapped for cash because we're just out of school. Jenn wants to go to this place called the Powerplant downtown, which is basically like an area filled with nightclubs, and you have to pay to get into each one, and then drinks on top of that. I want to go out to dinner first, too. Jenn mentioned getting either a hotel or a limousine so no one has to drive home. They will both end up being pretty expensive.

I guess I don't really have a specific question... I just don't want to be the buzz kill if the hotel or limo ends up being more than I want to pay, especially since I'm the maid of honor, but this on top of paying for the dress/alterations/bridal shower is more than I can handle because I'm still looking for a job. Which do you think would be the best choice?

I would first start calling around and getting prices.

Heads up, brides can be blind when it comes to $$$.
My best advice, the vast majority of nightclubs will not charge cover for a group of young pretty early 20's gals celebrating a bachelorette party. You might try calling or emailing in advance and asking if you buy a bottle of champagne or something if they have a bachelorette package deal. They'll probably be thrilled to have you, and if you all split the bottle it'll likely be less than cover and seperate drinks.

Nightclubs love groups of girls unaccompanied by men, they are usually swamped by single guys.
Good luck!

I have to chuckle a bit.

I was thinking just what izzyandalexsmommy and redcrush already told you! I know that hotels in downtown Denver often have bachelorette or girls night out packages that sometimes involve going out to clubs. Cover charges can be reduced or waived as part of the package deal, and some of the hotels then give spa treatments or breakfast deals in the morning.
I do think if you share your cash strapped situation with the people making the arrangements, they'll work with you and your friends on the pricing.
Have fun!
