Okay – first of all, there is an ivillage board called “Dealing with Difficult People” that focuses more on co-worker and job related problems.

I think asking him what you could do to improve is giving him too much power.

Oh....I see your point...but I still respectfully disagree. Poster didn't do anything wrong here...and calling her a gossip infers she has...at least to me it does.

It isn't a generalization, it is a fact. Perhaps you have never worked in an environment where there was such a person? It is a small group of employee's and trust me, we are all on the same page.

I have to say....IMO, I find your posts to be a bit combative.

The poster came here be/c she had an issue with a coworker. Her post was simple....Confront the guy or not??

A lot of the replies have been attacking the poster, as if she had some sort of control over what had occured. She learned what she learned....it is what it is. Her question is what does she do NOW that she knows what she knows... She cannot go back & change what she heard!

Attacking her for having received the information that she did....makes it seem like you're blaming her for being talked about?!

I just simply do not understand how or why any of this has anything to do with the poster?! And why your replies seem to attack her? Care to explain??

I agree with you regarding Jakesmom. She's been posting here for awhile about various issues, and has had some wonderful advice for others. Going on and on at her for what's already done isn't productive. I'm glad that she's decided not to confront him, he sounds like a nasty person.

Jakesmom, I also used to work in social services and I broke a few rules in order to get someone the help I thought they needed. If he can't see that it's not an all black or white issue, then he's in the wrong line of work.

I don't think my work history is the issue here, but I've worked in all types of environments - large, small, corporate, gov't., non-profit/social services, environments where someone was not liked, environments where
