When your family wants to spend time with you - how many of us lie to get out of it?

Sometimes I am tempted to lie so I won't hurt their feelings but I usually just tell the truth. And I try to do it without the drama. I am either already busy with something, too tired to want to, or I am just wanting to spend time with my hubby and kids or even just time alone to myself. Yes, I sometimes hurt their feelings but whenever possible I tell the truth.

What about you? Did you get out of the holiday bar-b-que with a lie?

Melissa

P.S. I didn't get invited to any Bar-b-ques this year. I wonder why...

Well for me I never reallly lie to them. Most of the time I just can not make it at all and they seem to be pretty understanding. Now that we have two cars and DH can get his own self to work they ask me all the time to drive the six hours by myself but they understand that we hate to travel with out the other when ever we can do it. I guess being so far away makes it easier to "get out" of things such as bbq's. DH talked to his mother this weekend and she couldn't believe that he had a three day weekend and we didn't come down for a visit. They are always doing that to us. We just tell em that we didn't want to come. So we never really lie.....sometimes just a little fib. That is ok right??? LOL

I rarely lie but instead do a half-truth. Like I am busy, when I'm not so busy.
