not sure how to really start this....but my family drives me crazy!
Oh girly, I know EXACTLY how you feel!! (except, I don't have sisters all 'up in my business)
My Mom WROTE THE BOOK, on how to be critical!! I am 43 and I still hear, negative comment, after negative comment!! The problem is, they will NEVER change....so, yes, I think it's a good idea to move away & distance yourself, from your family.
Kiki (hit my magic age of 45 and no longer TTC),but mom to a beautiful teen DD & 2 angels in heaven & married to my best friend
wow sounds very very stressful. I'm so sorry. honestly i lived in another country for 4 years for university and even though i was close with my family it was very hard to be away with them...and i appreciate my family more. my family appreciates me more too now that i'm back. MAYBE moving away for work is a good idea. maybe they'll be nicer to you when you do come back for weekends or holidays and not belittle you. moms will always kinda try to give love advice even though today's society is TOTALLY different from what it was 30 years ago. your mom is outdated, but its not like you are a single mom living with a man...you are just single and focusin on your career most 20-somethings do that. she should be happy you haven't gotten married out of HS. Most people struggle when they get married that young & have kids. you won't change your mom though at this point. and if none of your sisters can sympathise with you or tell your mom to stop you have to leave only to keep the relationship decent. if you stay it sounds like you are gonna blow up on them. biting your tongue only works for so long. when my father gives his opinions, strong ones that i listen to first and wait till he's done. and then say thanks for your advice but i really want to do this... i know what you mean about finding the right guy, it's hard to meet someone who wants the same things and not to mention most men don't want to settle down until they are over 30 now and have their life sorted... so 27 and single isn't uncommon. its better to be happy single than with a guy and miserable... just my opinion. good luck.
unfortunately my sisters are all on my mom's side....let's just say this 4th of July was the worst I had ever seen.
I see why you posted this here, but did you know there is a Single Life board? Just thought I'd toss that in, in case you weren't aware ;)I come from a very conservative, southern, religious family. While my mother isn't as vocal as yours, I can commiserate with you. (I'm single, never married, no children and am 38 years old)
yes I do realize there is a single life bored....I am not single though I do have a serious SUPPORTIVE BF...so no it would have no place there at all....sorry
"They're all crazy. Time to distance yourself. And I wouldn't have anything to do with your sister's boyfriend ever again. And if your mother asks why you don't spend as much time, or call much anymore, I'd give her both barrels.I've had to do it. You can, too. You MUST, for your own sanity. "
hmmm...got a bday card from my mother today....I have mixed feelings about it.... here's what it said:
