Hypocritical friends ... am I the only one?

Hi all... This is not a huge issue, but it bugs me. I have some long-term friends who are really great people and I love them dearly, although we haven't seen each other in a long time (these are old friends from school). We used to all live in close proximity but after getting married/jobs/kids, we've become spread out and probably only talk a few times a year, but still hold them in my "top friends" list. Anyway, I do my best to keep in touch, but it's not my strong suit. That said, I rarely if ever hear from these friends either, but when we do happen to touch base, I always get grief for "not calling". HELLO?!

I like it better when people call me.

I have a couple of friends like yours (I think everyone has at least one). The thing is, once you're halfway decent about keeping in touch, people come to expect it. And when you start getting busy and the phone calls are not as often, people tend to say something. I have said "the phone works both ways" to some people. I have also presented my "case" with dates and incidences to go along with it. I do this when I'm accused of not calling at all or they claim they're the only ones who do the dialing.

Yes, I think everyone does have these types of friends :)

I like your response, though, and I totally agree that it's ridiculous to spend time that you do get to talk talking about how you don't talk to each other a lot :)

Ditto on the mass emails!

I agree totaly. Life can get busy. You do your best to keep in touch if they choose not to try than so be it. But to give yo grief for not calling more often is a little unfair since you are the one calling.

I have a friend that does that.
