You know what....with some people I could tell them I was seeing purple unicorns & they wouldn't know the difference. They just swear & yell & don't really even listen to a word I'm saying anyway!!!

No, Helga...it's not "nice weather we're having"...it's "It's nice we're having weather".

In the case of my MIL, she knew EXACTLY what I was saying! I was telling her to cut her crap!! She's still a handful at times....but now I just tune her out. Literally....flat out ignore her! She rambles on & on & on....about everything & she never finishes a thought. So its like a bad amusement park ride & you just gotta hold on til its all over!!!

I think I'm gonna try "nice weather..." with some of the folks at work! OMG!!! I had some kid (literally couldn't have been more than 20-22 yrs old) swearing at me big time on the phone yesterday! I guess they feel that since they don't have to look us in the face its OK to speak to us that way...or they think that being very agressive like that will get people to cower & give into their demands. I just hung up on his sorry behind!!! His mom woulda smacked him with that mouth!!! Using the F-bomb like that.....sheesh!!!

I can't wait to disarm someone now..."Nice weather we're having...." hehehehehehehehehe! Thanks for the ammo!!! Sometimes the callers at the office are BRUTAL!!!

As if your dn didn't have it hard enough...her own grandmother is telling her she's not bright enough for college?! What a stupid, mean woman!!!

She does sort of remind me of my MIL. She used to say horrible things abt my dd & my nephew. While the kids may not exactly get what she's said or what it means....they can feel that she treats them differently than she treats their siblings. My dd is very smart for 8 yrs old...too smart for MIL and I think that's the part that ticks her off!!! Heheheheehheehehehehe....that's my girl!!!

I'm with the posters who suggested not giving out the invites to her anymore. I'd pretend like she didn't exist. (I'm kinda good at that, haha)

Wow...abt her Easter plans?! Just wow?!

I'm wondering how much of how she behaves has to do with your SIL & the fact that you're raising her dd/your dn???

Could it be that she's having a hard time coming to grips with SIL as her DD??? That she's embarrassed that you & dh have had to take in her DGD???

IDK....Just thinking out loud. Seems to me that she's avoiding something by not attending your family functions. What could she be avoiding? Hmmmm....well the only thing that comes to mind for me is the fact that you & dh are raising dn?! Its got to be embarrassing for her that one of her own kids cannot take care of her own matters. Even if she doesn't outright admit it....I'm guessing on some level, she's not happy with how her dd is living her life. No mother wishes this for their child....so mabye this has more to do with MIL & SIL than it does with you or dh?! But of course you know her better than any of us...

Yes, literally her friend's daughter is coming to town with her 2 kids, and MIL is going there because she is SO excited to see these two kids, while her own grandchildren (DH's brother is bringing his 2 kids over too, because his wife doesn't celebrate Easter) will be 3 minutes away.
