I really wish I could enjoy being around my parents but I simply don't. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for their behavior and often narrow, sometimes even bigoted, view of the world. They always want me to visit them on the weekend, but the visits amount to nothing but listening to them go off on politics as they try to hammer their "correct" opinions into my head. I'm in my mid-thirties, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. Life is too short for being angry at the world. When I try to excuse myself-- I have no desire to join their debates-- they immediately jump on me, saying, "aha, see you know we're right, so you're uncomfortable, that's why you're leaving and avoiding the discussion!"

Okay, let me paraphrase, here. I'm confident in who I am, and who I am is a compassionate person. That person is reflected in 99% of my posts. Do some posters push my buttons? Yes, but who (here) doesn't have someone who they *wish* they could ignore?

Maybe it would be best if we all left it alone.

I think this is wise advice.

No one suggested you leave the board, if that's what you meant.

From the beginning of this, I didn't understand what the problem is. And it no longer matters as far I'm concerned.

Maybe it would be best if we all left it alone.

You know what, Azure? I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that my perception may have been off when I read your reply to my post(to someone else). Most of the people who come here are stressed and hurting. I know that because I come here and vent myself. I try to give gentle, well-thought-out advice(your approach seems to vary).

cfk_3 - You often forget what you say from one post to the next - you seem to have trouble focusing and following the discussion flow.

I think that the only way that your parents might change is if they have a reason compelling enough. They might be willing to change their ways (around you anyway) if that's the only way to have contact with you. It would require you being

That sounds like my folks. Except when I have an opinion Im told to shutup. Ive ruined their fun by walking off getting in the car and leaving when the rude behaviour starts. Lately its gotten better.
