I think once I get a little bit of liquid courage on Christmas Eve, I may just say something to her! She won't expect it, she's got a horrible poker face and she cannot think on her feet. So it will be obvious by her reaction if she's lying to me or not!!!

She never said she was going to get drunk, and your assessment of her children makes no sense. I lose my keys and yet I'm perfectly capable of handling emergencies.
If you have nothing nice to say, then perhaps you shouldn't say it. At the very least you shouldn't be jumping to negative ASSumptions.
