my mom is spoiled & unsupportive. my heart really goes out to anyone who didn't have a caring, nurturing mother when you needed one. i really do understand & really feel for you truly. ;)

to explain: i am glad for her good qualities but she gets away w/ a lot because she's got a 'devil-may-care attitude' & my dad indulges her to a ridiculous extent. she gets to be a tyrant. she loves to say how parents should not help their kids once the kids are 18 yrs old or else the parents are getting 'used' but on the other hand, she wants to be included in everything & get invited over for dinner (& get to shoot out nasty comments left & right & be 'excused' for it). it's a contradiction.

My aunt is kind of like that, as far as the 18+ thing goes. She always tells my mom that she is a "fool" and "being used" because I am almost 19, live at home while working and going to school, and my mom and stepdad have NO intention of "kicking me out" or me even moving at all until I am finished w/ college and have established myself, I probably won't move out for at least 3-4 yrs. My aunt kicked her kids out on their 18th birthday and calls it tough love, and says that in the long run it will serve them well, but unfortunately my aunt never let them work AT ALL and they didnt even get their drivers licenses or anything like that so in another way she was like setting them up to fail. Her son lives w/ various friends and never keeps a job and her daughter has 3 kids and is on welfare, they are 23 and 25 now and my aunt still believes that she was doing great by kicking them out at 18 and refusing to give them a penny of help after that. She still says my mom is the crazy one when I live at home, comfortably, have a car/job, am getting an education, and contribute to the household w/ groceries and doing chores. She also said that I will end up being a child forever because I have "no responsibilities" - I get myself to class and work everyday, pay my car insurance and phone bills early, etc... Things that make u go hmmmmmmmmmm Rhiannon
