have it always been this way? or is this fairly recent? if it is fairly recent i think asking if something is wrong is alright. but if this is just how it has always been in the 5yrs you have know her/him then this is just normal and you just now are seeing it openly.

It seems as if your relationship has not changed except for the fact that you noticed your were the one
If you've been everyday friends for 5 years and you see a sudden change in that, I'll bet she IS upset over something...whether it's something YOU did or she thinks you did or it may be something completely separate from you (argument with her hubby or problems with her extended family, health issue she isn't ready to talk about???).
