I haunt a local expresso stand and totally adore all the baristas.

I went to a shower once that requested that each attendee bring a Christmas ornament for the couple to start their own tree decoration collections.

A nativity ornament would be good if they are both conservative Christians.

You can't go wrong with a 5x7 or 8x10 picture frame. They will definitely have something to put into it. It really the thought that counts esp when it's not expected. Anything you give them will remind them of your kindness.

I knew a woman at work who got pregnant a mth after my DD. When we were chatting after she announced her pregnancy, she mentioned that her Mom didn't seem as excited as I was about my DD's pregnancy. So I went out that night & spent 20 to 25 on a welcome baby gift bag including blanket, baby book, a bottle, etc.. This was 5 yrs ago & she still tells me how this was so special to her as she never expected it. The expression of joy on her face isn't something I will ever forget.
