Same every year "part 2"
Sun, 02-12-2012 - 9:48pm

Im opening this post up again as the friend who had the party thought is was absolutely fine for all of us to pay and so the party went ahead and its now well and truly forgotten. Anyway, she mentioned to me the other day that someone who didn't come to the party SHOULD have still bought her a gift as she WAS invited. I am sure she was HINTING that I STILL haven't bought her a gift, and now she is very COOL with me. I mean, for goodness sake, I have spent years supporting her antics and being there on a practical level for her ( when she moved recently I was the one friend who went round and helped her clean up the old place and move boxes etc) and I have always tried my best to help her.. And now because of a stupid gift that I refuse to buy for her, she is so cool and uninterested any more. I feel like cutting her out of my life altogether.. She is always looking for more and more things to have rather than realizing that these things are meaningless.

Sorry to rant/ vent, just needed to get that out.

Like swimercise, I don’t understand why you’re spending time with this woman.

You refer to her as a friend, yet you said you feel like cutting her out of your life.

You obviously don’t like her, you don’t share her values, you haven’t stated anything positive about her.

You didn’t want to go to the birthday party, but you did.

How you’re thinking this “friend” is hinting that you should buy her a gift and acting cool towards you.

Why di you care?

If she is "unfriending" you over this then maybe its for the best. It sounds like whatever you two used to have in common is quickly fading. Stop contacting her and see what happens, you may not have to "do" anything to have her out of your life.

Sounds like YOU are growing up and she is not.

I have no idea why this person is still your friend. It's apparent you don't share the same morals and values and her behavior is a deal breaker to me.
