Should These Nazi-Naming Parents Have Lost Custody of Their Baby?

You know how we all agreed we weren’t going to judge another parent until we’d driven a mile in her minivan? Well, I pretty much crapped out of the deal back in 2009 when I read about Heath and Deborah Campbell, the New Jersey couple who’d decided to legally change their son’s name to Adolf Hitler....

I agree with you but I think you took that statement of mine out of context. I was replying to a poster who had asked if the children were removed from the home solely be/c of their names but that's not what the article said.

It said that the state received an anonymous call about the children being abused & removed them immediately. Part of the state's investigation of these people found that they were both mentally & physically abused as kids & were not fit to be parents...and so the state hasn't returned them to their parents!

They didn't print the entire report in the paper, but it cannot be good, if after almost 2 years the children still haven't been returned to them!!!

Oh I definitely think something went on or is going on in that house! Or the state wouldn't still have custody of the kids! I just don't know what they exactly found....the article didn't say. And honestly, I'm sort of glad it didn't spell out their abuse, it would have been even harder to read.

From my knowledge in Texas, CPS is not allowed to publicly discuss particulars unless a death or serious injury occurs.

>>>Someone needs to protect these kids & stop them from having anymore!!!!!!

Wasn't that the sort of hype the Nazis started out with...you know, suggesting certain people weren't acceptable to be parents, "protecting" children from parents because of their beliefs?

Lighten up. We say things like that all the time and we're not Nazis!

And personally, I think my sister should be forcibly sterilized!

Unfortunately, this case has more to do with abuse within the home than it does with odd children's names. If it were a case of the govt simply coming in & doing what they saw fit, just be/c they disagreed with the parents, then I'd agree with you. But it isn't. These people are not well, continue to have children that they abuse & must be taken from them?! Sorry... but I stand by my statement!!! I still believe that someone must protect those kids from abuse if the parents are gonna keep having them!!!!

I think parents don't have the right to their children like property, nor can they do anything, or name them anything.

" I was commenting on the original question which had to do with their losing custody because of their name choice. Of course parents who abuse their children should lose the right to continue abusing those children even if it comes down to their losing custody. "

Honestly, I've gone over the specifics and don't feel the need to repeat myself. These children weren't removed from the home solely be/c the government didn't like the names the parents chose. They were taken away be/c the parents were unfit, abusive people...PERIOD. And yes, I think we should deter these people from having any more kids....be/c honestly, I wouldn't want to take a chance with another child's life! I feel once an abuser, always an abuser!
