HI P/ Shifter.. ( BTW - love the name) Subvert the dominant paradigm was a slogan they used on bumper stickers regarding changing the way we think about rainforest's clearing.

Guess what ! Brother phoned me yesterday out of the blue ( he must have realized that Im no longer interested and could feel that Vive lost it with him) and he asked me about 10 questions in a row, how are the kids, how's work, how's hubby, what's happening , where am I going for the upcoming festival we are having ( religious festival meal that we have each year with family) etc etc .. I was a bit evasive and didn't ask him how he is going or the pregnant wife or his child, because I AM NOT EVEN INTERESTED. So then he asks if we can meet for a coffee one day.. And I said we could but Im busy at the moment with a few things going on. Now this is the interesting part. I said, " Why do you want to catch up ? - You certainly haven't wanted to lately? " .. And then he started raising his voice and said " WELL IM TRYING TO MAKE AN EFFORT NOW" and the tone of his voice was very loud and aggressive and almost a bullying tone.. And so I said Ok, well, phone me when you want to have that coffee and then he said " You can also phone me to have a coffee" and Im thinking, but I never wanted to have that coffee in the first place - YOU DID, so there is no way in the world I'm prepared to meet him because he is going to tell me that a year and half ago I never " apologized properly" and he can actually go tell his problems to someone that cares. As you pointed out, his wife really does act as though she is the enemy to me, so WHY would I even want to bring up anything about the past ?

Its interesting - I have a best friend who I speak to every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times, and for a long time on the phone too. She is bringing up her 5 year old on her own, so I hope I am a support to her. She and I have had so many fights over the years and we NEVER bring up the fight or what it is about or even can remember what it was about - although I did remember when

I probably would have told him I wasn't interested in Coffee anymore had he taken a forceful tone with me.
