That is a tough one.

I'd be inclined to send a gift, like a small keepsake.

I have not really spoken to my Mom about my sister's pregnancy, other than to congratulate my parents and that being grandparents will be exciting [I have 3 step-grandkids].

Are you already invited to a baby shower? Who will host it? Any way, I would give a gift for the baby, either in a baby shower or send it to her place with your mom. That won´t change your relationship with her, but you can continue trying to have a detached,

I have not been invited as of yet to attend a baby shower for my sister.

If you're invited to a baby shower, I'd send a gift to your sister.

Parents not getting involved in their kids' arguments is probably the best thing for most... but it sure wasn't in my family's case. My parents once refused to get involved in something serious between my oldest brother and a sister (before she was a drug addict.) It ended in someone else's death, someone I liked very much.

I would probably be overly involved (if I had more than one child) because of how my parents handled things.

Hmmmm...it seems my prevous message didn't make it through cyberspace!

What I said was I find it interesting how the pendulum goes back and forth from generation to generation.

I wouldn't be able to help myself, I don't think.
